How to fix slow loading for your published tour

Are your tours taking too long to load? Here are a few things you can try to fix it:

1. Publish your tour to the right region

Your tour region indicates which global server your tour was published to. If it's in the wrong region, your tour data is going to have to travel much longer to reach your devices, hence the slow loading speed. You can publish the tours to region-specific servers. This will enable the tour to load quickly.

2. Internet connection

We recommend at least 10 MBPS for a smooth experience. You can check how fast your internet is by searching "internet speed" on Google, and running their speed test.

3. Minimum hardware memory requirements

Your device will need at least 8GB of RAM to prevent lag.

4. Browser

Chrome or Chromium. Although Metareal player runs on all major browsers, we recommend Google Chrome.

5. Texture resolution

You can improve the tour loading speed by modifying the model texture resolution
Our recommendation is that if the tour is made for desktop, 4096 resolution is fine, otherwise if mobile needs to be supported we recommend 2048 or 1024 if possible.
Now it is also possible to set the texture resolution to 2048, regenerate all the textures, publish and create a link for mobile. Then set the texture resolution to 4096, regenerate all the textures, publish and create a NEW link for desktop
Make sure to republish your tour once the changes are done. By republishing, you get to update your tour with your latest changes while still preserving the same tour URL (so your links and embeds don't break).
